What is CPCA?
Grey Wolf The Conservation and Preservation Charities of America (CPCA) is a federation of America's finest national organizations working to protect and restore the Earth's natural environment and historic treasures through workplace giving campaigns. CPCA is proud to offer workplace donors a wide range of organizations dedicated to environmental education, wildlife protection, conservation of open space, soil, water, forests, parks and trails.

There are many benefits to participating in CPCA's workplace giving program:

  • CPCA's environmental charities cover a variety of concerns. Because our charities are grouped under the CPCA federation banner, it's easy for you to find the group or groups you wish to support.
  • More of your dollars go to benefit the charities for which they are designated, and less to administrative and overhead costs.
  • It's an easy way for employees to give to the causes they wish to support. Many workplace giving programs offer payroll deduction plans, a painless way to give to the charity of your choice. And, for employers who don't have a workplace giving program, CPCA and its consultant staff will help you get one started.

The Conservation and Preservation Charities of America offer federal, state, and municipal employees the opportunity to support the charities they care about in an easy and effective giving program. CPCA will continue to serve the interests of the giving community and the wide array of high impact conservation and preservation groups that participate in the Conservation and Preservation Charities of America federation.

Scope and Qualifications
CPCA member agencies work around the globe in virtually every area that promotes conservation, preservation, and environmental stewardship. Member agencies provide:

  • Preservation and protection for great natural treasures.
  • Promotion of agricultural practices that keep our environment healthy.
  • A voice for environments threatened by encroaching development.
  • Help for fragile habitat and sanctuary for threatened and endangered wildlife.
  • Research and education on the devastating effects of population growth and the importance of renewable, recyclable resources.
  • Improvements to the quality of our air, water, and soil.
  • Custodial protection for important American cultural and historical resources.
  • Safeguard for the planet's old-growth forests, ocean resources, and endangered rain forests.
Membership
All CPCA agencies are screened annually to ensure that they meet the highest standards of substantive program services, management and fiscal responsibility. CPCA has an inclusive Admissions Policy for any applicant that meets CPCA standards.

Governance
CPCA is governed by a nine-member board of directors that includes representatives from member charities, donor groups, and other constituencies. All board members are volunteers serving without compensation. The board of directors oversees the administration of services to CPCA member agencies and ensures that high eligibility standards are maintained. It does NOT determine how much money each agency will receive — that decision is left to the contributor. Gifts made directly to CPCA are shared among all its member agencies in the same proportion as each has received donor-designated gifts during the campaign.
