Workplace Giving
“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.” — John Muir, 1911

Bridal Veil Waterfall in Yosemite National ParkJohn Muir, one of this century's leading conservationists, understood the connections that bind our world together. That "connectedness" is one of the reasons why your gift to Conservation & Preservation Charities of America (CPCA) is an effective way to support the environmental causes you believe in. Your donation to CPCA works in many different ways to bring the whole conservation picture into focus and find solutions that work.

Your gift to CPCA will support environmental efforts on many different fronts. CPCA member organizations are:

  • finding solutions to a broad spectrum of environmental problems,
  • protecting many different kinds of wild and green places,
  • providing natural homes for wildlife through habitat protection and enhancement,
  • preserving our national historical treasures,
  • educating youngsters and adults about our natural world,
  • working to stabilize the growth in our own species that can be so damaging to natural resources,
  • conserving soil, water and so much more.

One or more of CPCA's charities may speak to a special place in your heart. If so, we invite you to pledge your workplace donation to that cause. But if you can't decide, CPCA can use your general donation to advance the missions of all of the dedicated member organizations working to ensure that our country's heritage of conservation continues for generations to come.

We Make it Easy
Donating through payroll deduction has many benefits, for you and the charities you want to support.

Simple
Once a year you designate one or more charities to receive your payroll gift. That's it, you're done.

Affordable
Even a small amount each pay period will add up over the year. Our charities can make large or small donations generate big results.

Predictable
There are no monthly installments to remember, no big checks that are hard to budget for and even harder to write. The $10 you pledge every pay period, for example, is an amount you're not likely to miss. Yet it means $260 for the charities of your choice. That's an important contribution. Any gift of any amount is welcome.

Contribute to CPCA at Your Workplace
1. Find out whether your workplace includes CPCA in its employee giving campaign. Your Human Resource department can tell you if a workplace giving program has been set up. A variety of companies, nonprofit organizations and government employers participate in workplace campaigns that include Conservation & Preservation Charities of America. If your workplace does not have an employee giving drive or does not include CPCA in its current payroll deduction campaign, you can help your employer set up a CPCA campaign.

2. Next, fill out a pledge card. If your workplace includes CPCA in its employee giving campaign, a CPCA brochure and pledge card should be provided by your employer during your workplace's designated campaign period (typically, but not always, in the fall of each year). Fill out the pledge card, authorizing an amount to be withheld from each paycheck, and return it to your workplace giving coordinator.

3. Your donation is deducted from your paycheck. The payroll department in your company deducts the amounts you designated to CPCA from your regular paycheck each pay period. Your donation usually will be itemized on your pay stub along with regular deductions for payroll taxes and health insurance. Your company will remit the donations to CPCA to be distributed to the appropriate organizations.

Host a CPCA Campaign at Your Workplace
If your workplace does not yet have an employee giving drive or does not include CPCA in its current payroll deduction campaign, you can help your employer set up a CPCA campaign. Find out who runs your workplace campaign. Then let them know that you and other employees want to contribute to conservation and preservation causes — supporting Conservation & Preservation Charities of America and its member charities is one of the best ways to do that. Hosting a CPCA campaign is an easy way for a company and its employees to demonstrate concern for the environment and our national historic treasures.
